Experience and Qualifications

I have been a Chartered and Registered Clinical Psychologist since September 1984. I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a member of the BPS Register of Clinical Psychologists specialising in Psychotherapy.

I have taken a strong interest in the development of a range of psychotherapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic, systemic and group approaches and contemporary trauma approaches such as EMDR and Somatic Awareness, focusing and body psychotherapy. My integrative therapeutic toolkit is fine tuned to the appropriate individual requirement after a comprehensive psychological assessment.

From 1984-1994 I worked in the Psychology and Psychotherapy departments of St. Bernard’s Psychiatric Hospital and Ealing General Hospital in West London. I then moved across to St. Anne’s Hospital in North London to join the Adult Mental Health department.

From 2000-2004 I worked in Northern California, USA in several adult and adolescent mental health settings and in an advisory capacity with Barristers and Judges in a Mental Health Court.

From 2004-2006 I joined Southmead Hospital, Bristol as a Senior Health Psychologist in the Department of Psychology, affiliated with the Department of Rheumatology.

From 2004 onwards I have worked in private practice in Bristol, dividing my time between a busy private psychotherapy practice and an expert witness practice, mainly responding to instructions for psychological reports for personal injury claimants.

My treatment work involves patients with posttraumatic stress, anxiety and depression, work-related stress, complex grief, somatic and chronic health issues, abuse and trauma, marital and family issues and cult abuse. I also have a special interest in treating work related stress in high-functioning professionals.

My qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, and Specialist Practitioner in Psychotherapy status with the BPS. I am an EMDR Accredited Practitioner. I also have systemic, group and psychodynamic psychotherapy training experiences gained at the Tavistock Clinic, London. I am also Bond Solon trained in relation to Civil Court reports.
